A VOCABULARY LIST FOR PEOPLE WHO ALREADY HAVE AN ABOVE AVERAGE VOCABULARY

These are vocabulary words taken *mostly* (95% or more) from my reading, but there are a few that I found by browsing the dictionary. Definitions came out of the dictionary with some paraphrasing. Pronunciation and other notes are in brackets. For example "n" means nouns as you probably would have guessed. If a word seems perfectly common you might want to look at the Q&A immediately before and after it which might turn out to be a false cognate. The file vocab1-900.txt is an alphabetized list of all the words to make it easier to avoid duplicates. Try inserting bookmarks for each letter with a word processor to make it easier to use. I may well update this file - if I do the new words would be # 900 - ? and the file names would be updated accordingly. Probably it would be best to start out seeing the answers (definitions) fist and guessing at the question (words).
